Jennifer Aniston has adopted a new dog, giving the new member of her family a particularly plush name.

On Sunday 12 October, the actor shared the news of her new addition on Instagram, posting a video of the adorable puppy snoozing on a blanket.

In the video, the actor pans the camera onto her puppy – named Lord Chesterfield – who has fallen asleep with a rawhide stick in his mouth.

“Chesterfield, have you fallen asleep with your bone in your mouth? I think you have,” Aniston can be heard saying in the video.

In her Instagram caption, the 51-year-old thanked The Wagmor Pet Hotel & Spa in California for rescuing dogs and helping them find families who want to adopt them.

“Hi! I’d like to introduce to you the newest member of our [dog] family,” Aniston wrote.

“This is (a very tired) Lord Chesterfield. He stole my heart immediately.”

The Friends star continued, writing: “A HUGE thank you to @wagmorpets for the incredible work you do.

“Grateful you take such great care of these rescues and find them their forever homes.”

Several people congratulated Aniston on the new member of her family.

“I actually cannot deal with this cuteness. The name, the pose, everything. Congrats!!!!” wrote Emily in Paris star Lily Collins.

“Love this little guy,” commented Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul, while model Poppy Delevingne said: “Heart. Melt.”

Some Instagram users commented that Lord Chesterfield bears a resemblance to the dog Marley in Aniston’s 2008 film Marley and Me, in which she starred alongside Owen Wilson.

Others thanked Aniston for adopting her new pet.

The actor has two other dogs – Clyde, a Schnauzer mix, and Sophie, a white pit bull.
