Lively, 33 - who has three children with actor Ryan Reynolds - recently took to Instagram to discuss feeling “insecure” about her body after giving birth to her daughter Betty in October 2019.
Writing underneath a photo of herself on The Jimmy Fallon Show wearing a floor-length black dress from Net-A-Porter and a Lanvin shirt, the actor wrote: "No one had samples that fit me after giving birth. And so many clothes from stores didn't fit either. So. Many.
“It doesn't send a great message to women when their bodies don't fit into what brands have to offer. It's alienating and confusing."
The actor went on to admit that she wishes she’d felt “proud” of her body, instead of worrying about how she looked.
“And I wish I felt as confident then as I do now, a year later looking back," she said. "That body gave me a baby. And was producing that baby's entire food supply. What a beautiful miracle. But instead of feeling proud, I felt insecure. Simply because I didn't fit into clothes. How silly is that in retrospect.”
The actor’s candid admission was met by huge support from her fans and followers, including fellow actor Sophie Turner, 24, who welcomed her first child with Joe Jonas in July last year.
“Yes @blakelively one more time for the people in the back,” wrote Turner, who shared Lively's post with her 15.1million followers on Sunday.
Seeing Turner's supportive message, Lively publicly responded with “Queen of the North” - a reference to Turner’s role on Game Of Thrones.
It comes after Turner revealed that she wore a mask while giving birth to her daughter last July. Though her and Jonas have not yet released the name of their baby, reports suggest she is called Willa.
The famously private actor recently shared three photos of herself from her pregnancy, which she spent in lockdown with her husband in LA.
In one photo, captioned with a series of emojis, she is seen in a swimming pool wearing a grey bikini while playing with the couple’s Golden Retriever.
Another close-up picture shows Turner holding pyjamas from the Hotel Bel Air tight over her baby bump.
