Woman who had six miscarriages celebrates pregnancy with rainbow baby photoshoot

Your support makes all the difference.After Jess Mahoney experienced six miscarriages, she and her husband Kevin knew they wanted to celebrate her pregnancy in a memorable way. The result is a stunning rainbow-themed photoshoot, showing Mahoney and her bump surround by plumes of multi-coloured smoke.
Jess and her husband Kevin approached Conneticut-based photographer JoAnn Marrero and asked her to help them mark their “rainbow baby” – the term used to describe a pregnancy following a series of miscarriages or still-births.
“I knew I had to do something extra special for her family,” said Marroro, who runs From Labor to Love. The pregnancy photography specialist decided to create a rainbow shoot, with each colour representing one of Jess' miscarriages.
“As a birth and newborn photographer, I take the utmost care and pride in what I am capturing as there are no ‘do overs’ in my field of work especially with births. I know these captured moments are going to be passed down for generations to come."
Marroro knew the shoot was particulary special as Kevin told her that another photographer did not deliver the couple's pregancy photos before the birth of their son Corbin.
“I was touched by Kevin's words and his goal of making sure that, this time, his wife would get all the maternity photos that she always dreamed of having” said Marrero.
Marrero worked with fellow photographer Mary Maloney of Pebbles and Polkadots to create the scene. “Through our rainbow haze, Jess stood with composure and her pregnancy glow came shining through like the sun. A whole lot of laughter made the moment even more vibrant and brilliant. This was definitely her moment, a proud mother-to-be for the second time.”
The colourful image has since been shared across the world, and has been liked over 11,000 times on the Birth Without Fear motherhood Facebook page.
“Beautiful things happen when artists come together as a team to create something memorable, in this case for family who is so very deserving. We are incredibly proud and honoured to be a part of such special moments.”
Asked what the favourite part of her job is, Marrero told The Independent: “It's amazing for me because I get to photograph their [a couple's] maternity and more incredibly the birth of their child.
"I'm there in labour and delivery with them the moment their child is born, capturing the first moment mumma lays eyes on her baby, the tears and joy, first breath and all.”
