Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The gym Sports Club/LA is offering "Yoga Rocks," a one-hour sunrise Vinyasa yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, on the ‘Top of the Rock' (the observation deck of tourist hotspot Rockefeller Center) in New York City until August 26.

If you are not a member of Sports Club/LA, you can still take part for $25/€19 (includes full access to the club, mat, towels): just make sure you reserve your space and arrive by 6:15am for the 6:30-7:30am class. More information via the Fitness Concierge: http://www.thesportsclubla.com/site/clubs/rockefeller/mind-body.php

Practicing your chaturanga position perched atop Rockefeller Center before the crowd of tourists pile in may be an odd way to find 'inner peace.'  Here is a list of five other odd places including the shower and "in traffic" to get your OM-on, from a May 7 blog post on Healthy Self, a section of US fitness magazine Self's site:  http://www.self.com/health/blogs/healthyself/2010/05/5-weird-places-you-should-do-y.html

If heights and odd places aren't your thing, get grounded with free weekly yoga classes at yoga gear Lululemon Athletica shops in Australia, Canada, China and the United States. To find a location near you, go to: http://www.lululemon.com/stores/

Additionally, if you are looking for ways to expand your yoga practice, Inner IDEA, the fifth annual event devoted to mind, body and spirit wellness, takes place in  Palm Springs, California, September 23-26.  http://www.ideafit.com/Inner-IDEA
