At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Jameela Jamil has expressed her satisfaction about Piers Morgan’s exit from Good Morning Britain, writing on Twitter that she that she almost died by suicide in 2020 because of his “relentless campaign of lies and hatred”.
The Good Place actor’s comments follow the announcement that the controversial TV presenter is no longer working on the TV breakfast show, after he walked off the set live on-air on Tuesday while being quizzed by a colleague on his comments about Meghan Markle.
Writing on Twitter on Tuesday night, Jamil said: “I almost killed myself a year ago because of Piers Morgan's relentless campaign of lies and hatred against me last February.
“I'm glad I'm still alive today for many reasons.

“But watching him leave GMB today is right up there and has me feeling...”, Jamil continued, sharing a GIF of herself flipping her hair on the Emmys red carpet.
An additional post accompanied by a GIF of Morgan read: “May we NEVER have to watch minorities have to go on mainstream news and have to *defend* their right to be treated with dignity and respect... ever again. All while being screamed over by this man”.
More than 41,000 people complained to Ofcom after the 55-year-old TV presenter questioned the legitimacy of the Duchess of Sussex’s comments following her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in which she talked about feeling suicidal.
“I don't believe a word she says,” Morgan said during Monday's broadcast. “I wouldn't believe it if she read me a weather report and that fact that she fired up this onslaught against our royal family. I think is contemptible.”
Ofcom has since confirmed it has launched an investigation under its “harm and offence” rules.
Mental health charity Mind also released a statement following Morgan’s outburst, which read: “We were disappointed and concerned to see Piers Morgan’s comments on not believing Meghan’s experiences about suicidal thoughts today.
“It’s vital that when people reach out for support or share their experiences of ill mental health that they are treated with dignity, respect and empathy.”
Morgan’s departure from GMB followed colleague Alex Beresford’s on-air condemnation of his comments about Markle.
Beresford said: “I understand that you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off. She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”
“Okay, I'm done with this, sorry, no, sorry ... see you later, sorry, can't do this,” Morgan said as he stood up and walked off.
ITV later confirmed that Morgan was no longer working on the breakfast show.
“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” the network said in a statement.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
The Independent has approached Morgan’s representative for comment.
