World Cancer Day

International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

This health awareness day is devoted to the education and eradication of FGM and is also referred to as "Day of Zero tolerance for FGM." The United Nations has set targets to end FGM in 16 African nations by 2015. Over 130 million females mainly in Africa and the Middle East suffer from this ‘purity’ cutting ritual. World Day of the Sick

Pope John Paul II created this day of observance for the sick and suffering to encourage one day around the world when everyone can take a few minutes to pray for loved ones that are ill as well as their caregivers.
