More than 350,000 NHS workers will get pay rises of up to 20 percent under a £250 million plan to improve wages.

More than 350,000 NHS workers will get pay rises of up to 20 percent under a £250 million plan to improve wages.

The money will go mainly to laboratory technicians, porters,cleaners, psychologists and physiotherapists, with doctors and nurses not included.

The rise is 3.7 percent higher than the basic offer and will take the starting salary for laboratory workers to £9,720 to £11,180 per year.

In addition, about 6,000 scientific staff will share an extra £3 million increase, boosting their pay by up to 13 percent.

The rises, which start on April 1, come after a two-year campaign by the MSF union.
