Health Update: Fractures to come

A DECLINE in milk consumption by children and young adults in the Seventies could presage a rash of spine and hip fractures in later life, warns a report in the British Medical Journal. During peak growth in the early teenage years, it points out, the calcium requirement for the skeleton can be as high as 400mg a day - that's three or four glasses of milk.
