Can an oral health campaign or an app make children brush?
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.February is National Children's Oral Health Month in the United States and April is International Oral Health Month. These campaign gives parents one more reason to talk about the importance of good oral health habits.
Colgate, the world's leading toothpaste manufacturer, and Y&R Thailand, an advertising agency, created an oral health promotion and awareness campaign to capture the hearts of children.
It is one thing to remind your children day in and day out that they need to brush twice a day but Y&R cleverly sends the message home by shaping the stick of a lollipop and ice cream bar into a toothbrush - on one side it says in Thai, "Don't forget Colgate" and the other in English.
Various national dental associations tout the importance of brushing for two minutes a day and in case your children need one more reason to use an iPhone - there are applications to help time their brushing: Toothbrush Timer (free) and ToothBrush Timer for kids ($.99).
