The Snack App, launched by Everyday Health Inc. on Dec. 2, helps users choose the perfect (healthy) snack to satisfy cravings, sorting hundreds of snacks by calorie count (50, 100, 200) and by craving type (salty, sweet, crunchy). (On iTunes, free)

Good Food-Bad Food, Food advisor and calorie tracker, launched by Nanobit Ltd in October, monitors calorie intake and displays comparisons of produce, packaged food and fast food items. (On iTunes, $3)

Fooducate, launched in November by Fooducate Ltd., allows users to scan a product's barcode, view product highlights, compare products and select better alternatives. The application has a database of more than 160,000 products and analyzes complicated nutritional terms like trans fats, additives and preservatives and provides an easy to understand rating for the user.
