During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actress was asked how her children feel about the products she sells on her lifestyle website.
“I think it must be pretty surreal for them to be the kids of somebody, well, both of their parents are in the public eye,” she said of her son Moses, 13, and daughter Apple, 15, with Chris Martin. “It’s interesting to watch them sort of evolve along with our careers as they go.”
But, according to Paltrow, her son is completely onboard with the Goop brand.
“It’s funny, actually, my son said to me the other day, he was like: ‘You know, at first I thought it was really embarrassing that there were vibrators on your website and now I think it is a great thing!’’ the actress recalled. “He was like: ‘You’re a feminist Mom! You’re a badass.”
The Avengers: Endgame star then reflected on her own experiences as a 13-year-old, telling Kimmel that when she was that age she was “just trying to figure it all out and I was super insecure”.
“It’s a tough age, that middle school,” she added.
Last week, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that Apple does not feel as proud of her parenting skills as Moses does.
Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Paltrow said that her daughter finds her “mortifying”.
“If I do anything in public, past just not talking and standing still, she’s like: ‘Oh my god stop it!’” Paltrow said.
The actress also recalled a driving incident involving her daughter, during which she “failed as a mother”.
“She’s a really good driver,” she began. “I try to be calm and… the first time I failed as a mother, because she went through a red light and I kind of yelled at her.
“Then she started crying and it was just terrible and I felt so bad,” she said, adding that she has since learned from her mistakes.
