Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ahead of the Hong Kong Houseware Fair being held April 20-23, the organizers have revealed the increasing demand for 'green' products in the Asian market.
The fair, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition center, is one of Asia's largest attracting over 2000 exhibitors and 25,000 professional visitors from around the world.
This year due to demand in the ASEAN region for 'green' products and the rising trend of 'low carbon' living, organizers have added a Green Living Zone' which will feature many of the latest green living accessories.
The products featured in this category span the whole spectrum of household goods ranging from chemical-free frying pans and eco-friendly travel pet bowls made of recycled plastics, to furniture made from recycled paper and solar-powered LED flashlights.
The addition of the Green Living Zone alongside other pre-existing areas such as the luxury Hall of Elegance reflects a rising environmental awareness within Asia, as with the rest of the world.
The increasing demand for power combined with ever more compact living conditions in Hong Kong and much of the East Asian region has made green living a priority of many of the region's residents.
Running concurrently to the Hong Kong Houseware Fair will be the second Hong Kong International Home Textiles Fair which is expected to attract around 14,000 visitors.
