Gordon Ramsay has come under fire for his behaviour during a 2010 interview with Sofia Vergara.

The footage of the TV chef appearing on the Tonight Show went viral after it received more than 45,000 retweets on Twitter.

The video shows the two celebrities siting alongside each other as host Jay Leno interviews Vergara, the highest paid woman on US television.

During the course of the interview, Ramsay repeatedly talks over the actor, mocking her accent and making a number of jokes tinged with sexual innuendo.

In the clip 46-year-old Vergara says: “ I never scream like that in real life”, in reference to a previous skit.

To which Ramsay replies: “Only in the bedroom”.

Later, Leno discusses a campaign the actor ran claiming she would run down Sunset Boulevard naked if The Modern Family won an Emmy.

“That’s ridiculous, I cannot run, I have bad knees,” Sofia said.

Gordon then replied, referencing Sofia’s breasts: “Yes, you’ll knock yourself out.”

The actor’s frustration becomes very clear when Leno asks her how much weight she gained during the trip: “What sort of question is that?”

And when Gordon touches her on the thigh, without consent to which she exclaims: “No touching!”

At the end of the clip, a visibly frustrated Vergara snaps: “This is my interview.”

Social media users have been quick to condemn Ramsay’s actions in the wake of #MeToo, accusing him of mistreating his co-guest with “inappropriate” and “sexist” conduct.

“Sofia Vergara didn’t deserve to be treated like this. This is very very uncomfortable,” shared one fan online.

Another person wrote: “She straight up yelled ‘this guy does not respect me!’ in Spanish. Her body language is more than indicative of her uncomfortableness towards his presence.“

A third added: “Nothing charming about Ramsay’s behaviour here, sexist and dare I say racist undertone to it.”

The controversy comes just days after Ramsay and his wife of 23 years, Tana, announced they were expecting their fifth child.

The couple are already parents to Megan, 21, Matilda, 17, and twins Jack and Holly, 19.
