From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Givenchy has tried and failed to tease its “mystery” new face on social media to the delight of fans, who have instantly recognised the distinctive pony-tailed silhouette as Ariana Grande.

“GUESS WHO?” the luxury French label tweeted on Thursday alongside a shadowed clip of the singer flicking her hair.

“THE NEW FACE OF #GIVENCHY, REVEALED TOMORROW,” the tweet continued.

But it seems like the jig was up before it began, as Grande’s legion of fans have been quick to identify her and promptly tease the brand for even attempting to conceal her recognisable profile.

“Obviously Ariana!” wrote US gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

“It’s clearly Ariana,” concurred another fan, echoing the comments of thousands of others who said the same.

Some people poked fun at Givenchy's teaser by suggesting alternative celebrities, by suggesting that the mystery face could be Adele, Madonna or even perhaps Ed Sheeran.

But those who might’ve had their doubts were quickly proven wrong, as Grande herself then tweeted a snap of the same silhouette.

The Thank, U next singer did leave some element of mystery though, having posted the image without a caption. Sneaky.

It is unclear whether or not Givenchy's teaser was intended to be sarcastic.
