From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tasha Kneen was in a busy Wetherspoon pub with her 16-month-old daughter Ruby-Mae Lord when the unidentified woman approached her.
After Kneen complained to the manager, the offending woman – who is reportedly in her 20s – was asked to leave.
"One of the managers asked what the problem was, I explained, the manager went into the kitchen and came out with someone else and asked her to leave," the mother-of-one told the Nottingham Post.
Kneen was with her daughter and mother at The Joseph Else in central Nottingham on Saturday when the incident occurred.
They left almost immediately afterwards, with the young mother confessing that she was “too upset” to stay.
The family had been shopping for Christmas presents prior to stopping off at the pub for a bite to eat.
Kneen, who is from Bulwell, was insulted by the stranger before she had even sat down at a table.
She explained that she would not be returning to that particular Wetherspoon branch in light of the incident.
A spokesperson for J D Wetherspoon has been quick to insist that they did not ask Kneen to leave the pub following her complaint.
“The manager dealt with the situation very well and in fact it was the lady who made the comment about the child who was asked to leave,” said Eddie Gershon.
“We do not condone such behaviour in our pubs.”
