Apple stayed silent on the battery life of the Apple Watch at Tuesday's launch, but it's an important aspect given we're accustomed to charging phones daily but expect watches to run for months.
Some elucidation came from Apple spokesperson Natalie Kerris today however, who told Recode:
"There’s a lot of new technology packed into Apple Watch and we think people will love using it throughout the day. We anticipate that people will charge nightly which is why we designed an innovative charging solution that combines our MagSafe technology and inductive charging."
This anticipation of users "charging nightly" suggests battery life may not be much longer than a day, though this will of course be dependent on the level of use, working simply as a clock face you'd hope for significantly longer life.
The "throughout the day" wording meanwhile suggests Apple is positioning the watch as a daytime device, which is hardly unreasonable, but could present problems for users hoping to make use of sleep tracking technology.
Worries about battery life aside, initial reaction to Apple's first foray into wearable has been pretty positive, look how gorgeous the damn things are!
So far, Apple has only given a provisional release date of early 2015 for the Apple Watch, though its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus arrives next week on 19 September.
