From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Microsoft have announced that the next installment in the Fable series, Fable Legends, will be an Xbox One exclusive, and have released a new trailer for the game (see below).

As usual in the series, Fable Legends will unleash players into the world of Albion where they can become a hero or a villain, and choose whether to specialise in swordplay or magic.

However, the game promises to enhance the villain-experience, offering players the chance to “assume the role of an evil mastermind”:

“Playing a Hero utilizes the classic ‘Fable’ style of gameplay, but as a Villain, you’ll combine strategy and tactics to control an army of minions against the Heroes. Command your troops in real-time and carefully manage your minions’ unique abilities to ensure the forces of evil prevail.”

Developed by UK-based Lionhead Studios, Fable Legends also promises “seamless” switching between single and multiplayer sessions and the use of Xbox SmartGlass to turn your smartphone into a second screen.

The news is the latest from Microsoft at Gamescom, with the company also announcing the first details of their indie publishing scheme for the Xbox One, named ID@Xbox.

Microsoft have also announced the full roster of launch titles for the Xbox One , including the latest franchise juggernauts (including Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed) and a smattering of new IP titles (Watch Dogs and Ryse being the most anticipated).

Other new included a new trailer of ‘Gladiator’ mode in sword-and-sandals hack-and-slash title Ryse: Son of Rome. The arena-based mode sees your character fight waves of enemies in order to fill an audience entertainment meter.

Other new trailers included  Fifa 14 (those who pre-order the Xbox One will get a copy of the game thrown in for free) and Kinect-powered beat-em-up Fighter Within from Ubisoft.
