Ubisoft’s yearly dose of Assassin’s Creed launches this Friday, and with the series coming to London for the first time, fans can’t wait to see what the game has in store. For those thinking about picking it up, here’s 7 things you need to know.

What is Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate?

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s long-running Assassin’s Creed series. The game takes place in 1868 London, at the height of the Industrial Revolution. It is an open-world action adventure stealth game, with players tasked with completing a series of assassinations against key targets with the use of a wide array of weapons, as well as parkour to traverse the vast landscape.

You can play as a woman in Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate

The game follows the story of two siblings: Jacob and Evie Frye, both of whom are playable throughout the campaign. How much of the campaign will be controlled by Evie remains unknown, though early rumours indicate that for around three quarters of the game will have players in control of Jacob.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate has no multiplayer

The Assassin’s Creed series had a very popular multiplayer mode which pitted players against each other as assassin’s in a civilian-filled map. Unfortunately, multiplayer will not be returning, with the game solely focused on single player.

Is there a Season Pass?

Yes. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate’s Season Pass includes multiple story-based DLC packs, the first of which will focus on Jack the Ripper 20 years after the events of the main game.

Other content in the Season Pass includes:

  • The Last Maharaja Mission pack - coming early 2016
  • Exclusive ‘A Long Night’ mission - available at launch
  • The Victorian Legends pack and Steampunk Pack - available November
  • Permanent XP boost
  • Runaway Train mission

The Season Pass is currently listed on Amazon for £24.99.

What are the Assassin Creed: Syndicate Collector’s Editions?

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will launch with four different collector’s editions as well as the standard edition.

The Gold Edition includes the game and the Season Pass. The Rooks Edition comes with the game, an artbook, London map and official soundtrack.

The Charing Cross edition includes all the content of the Rooks edition plus a 30cm figurine of Jacob.

The Big Ben case edition (which is available exclusively through Ubisoft’s bespoke uPlay store) includes the game, a double-sided London map, a hip flask, a 30cm figuring of Jacob, an exclusive numbered lithography, artbook, game case and special case for the collector’s edition itself, and costs £114.99.

Does Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate have pre-order and console-exclusive content?

AC: Syndicate will come with ‘The Dreadful Crimes’, which features ten missions exclusively on PS4. Meanwhile, those who pre-order the game will also receive the Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy mission.

What is Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate’s release date?

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate launches October 23 on PS4 and Xbox One and on November 19 on PC.
