Mash 19-21 Great Portland Place, W1 (0171-637 5555) Ice buckets (pounds 45 ) are on sale at the magazine and cigarette stall at the front of the restaurant. Also on sale are t-shirts (pounds 15) in blue with an orange circle and brown with a white lozenge (the same shape as the entrance).

The Rainforest Cafe 20, Shaftesbury Ave, Piccadilly Circus, W1 (0171- 434 3111) Merchandise ranges from pounds 3.80 for a salt and pepper set (essential in the jungle no doubt) to plastic water bottles (pounds 7.95 ), bum bags (pounds 6.99) and umbrellas (pounds 24.99). They also do their own Rhythm of the Tropics CD for pounds 11.85.

Costa Coffee Costa coffee bars all over London have just started selling Music from the Coffee Lands CDs featuring performers from South and Central America, Africa and the Caribbean. Price pounds 12.99

Le Gavroche 43, Upper Brooke Street, W1 (0171-408 0881) They actually started selling "souvenirs" at Michel Roux's Mayfair restaurant a decade ago. "Like our food we set the trend," says general manager, Silvano Giraldin. There are no t-shirts or baseball caps; instead there are more traditional items such as ties and decanters. Top sellers are specially commissioned Wedgewood plates at pounds 70 and statuettes of Le Gavroche (the street urchin) at pounds 100.
