The vegan ‘bleeding’ burger is due to arrive in the UK next month, providing a mouth-watering, meat-free alternative for vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians to enjoy.

British company Moving Mountains has teamed up with vegetarian and vegan restaurant Mildreds to launch the B12 burger, otherwise known as the “raw ‘bleeding’ burger”.

The B12 burger has been developed to replicate animal meat using solely plant-based ingredients.

“We can’t wait to launch the Moving Mountains B12 burger exclusively at London institution, Mildreds and let people bite into the future with our plant-based meat,” says Simeon Van der Molen, founder of Moving Mountains.

“This launch not only marks a huge leap in innovation for humanity, by allowing consumers to bite into a future that is better for their health and the health of our planet, but also addresses a growing new consumer trend for flexitarian dining.

“Now Brits can have their meat and eat it without the environmental impact of the animal agriculture industry.

“Without any compromise on taste, the Moving Mountains B12 burger provides a viable alternative for flexitarians, vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.”

While the B12 burger may look like a regular beef burger, it’s anything but.

The patty has been made using peas, potatoes, wheat and soy proteins, beetroot juice to make the burger ‘bleed’, coconut oil, Vitamin B12 and an oyster mushroom base.

The burger is served in a toasted bun and also comes with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, Mildreds’ signature basil mayo, tomato relish and your choice of side.

The B12 burger will be available to order at Mildreds in Dalston from February 24 for £10 between 12 and 2pm.

Mildreds has made its mark on the vegetarian dining scene ever since it was founded back in 1988, with branches in Soho, King’s Cross, Camden and Dalston.

The goal of founders Diane Thomas and Jane Muir was to “open a restaurant serving good value, fresh and colourful international vegetarian food.”

Last week the restaurant announced the release of their very own vegan cookbook.
