From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Schweppes has recruited screen siren Uma Thurman in another glamorous ad campaign, this time shot by famed high fashion photographer David LaChapelle.

In its latest TV ad blitz, the fizzy beverage maker trades in one statuesqueue blond for another, having used Nicole Kidman in a Bollywood-inspired ad campaign in 2009.

The new ads feature Thurman reclining glamorously in an old-Hollywood-style vignette, speaking seductively about her love of the Schweppes beverage to a journalist.

"I love Schweppes and I need to have it all the time," she says in a husky, smoky voice.

The highly stylized fashion campaign is shot in signature LaChapelle style - seductive, bold and glamorous - and also appears as print ads for a range of five sparkling beverages that come in lemon, Indian Tonic, grape, agrum (or citrus) and peach flavors and appeared in Europe.

Recently, Pepsi also aired a new star-padded ad for their Diet Pepsi, with Sofia Vergara of TV show Modern Family and soccer star David Beckham.
