From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The cookbook, which has been titled From Crook to Cook, will contain 50 of the rapper’s favourite recipes, including dishes such as chicken and waffles, soft flour tacos and filet mignon.
The news of the cookbook’s release comes following Snoop Dogg’s appearance on VH1 TV series Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, which received a nomination for a Primetime Emmy in 2017.
According to the rapper, he’s planning on taking the “cookbook game” to the next level with his book, which will be published by Chronicle Books.
“You know it’s blazin’ up in my kitchen. I’m takin’ the cookbook game higher with a dipped and whipped collection of my favourite recipes, ya dig?” he said in a statement.
The book will also feature a recipe for a gin and juice, inspired by Snoop Dogg’s 1993 song of the same name from his debut album Doggystyle.
Christine Carswell, publisher of Chronicle Books, has expressed her delight over the partnership between the publishing house and the rapper.
“Snoop Dogg and Chronicle Books are about to Snoopify the cookbook world and kitchens around the world,” she said.
“Snoop’s book is full of his iconic creative energy - it’s as much fun to read as it is to cook from.”
“Creating this book together has been a total trip, and I can’t wait for everyone to start cooking with Snoop this October,” said Camaren Subhiyah, senior editor at Chronicle Books.
While From Crook to Cook won’t feature any cannabis-based recipes, it’s been revealed that Snoop Dogg’s media startup Merry Jane will be working together with Chronicle Books to release a range of cannabis-themed books in spring 2020.
The second series of Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party is currently airing in the US.
From Crook to Cook will be available to buy in the UK for £17.99 from October 23 and is available to pre-order now.
