The fast-food chain has said it is looking for its “biggest fan” to front its next campaign.
“KFC is on the hunt for a professional finger licker,” the job advertisement begins.
“Yes – one clucky fan will get the chance to tuck into some of Kentucky’s finest, winging their way to stardom as the face of the chicken legend’s latest campaign.”
The chosen taster will take part in a photoshoot for KFC as part of the role, with the photograph then being showcased in a KFC restaurant and on a billboard.
Applicants are being asked to tweet KFC with one reason why they deserve the role, or as the advertisement calls it, the “finger-lickin’-ternship”.
It’s not entirely clear how much fried chicken one will be required to consume as part of the role.
News of the role comes after KFC was criticised for accidentally serving a chicken burger to a customer who had requested one of the chain’s new plant-based burgers.
Nic Kent, who has followed a vegan diet for five years, bought the Zero Chicken Burger in KFC’s Clifton restaurant last month.
The burger was launched in KFC restaurants nationwide on 2 January and is modelled on a traditional Chicken Fillet Burger, only the mayonnaise is replaced with a vegan alternative and the chicken is traded for a bespoke Quorn fillet. At least, it’s supposed to be.
Kent ordered the new meat-free burger on 5 January. The dish came in a Zero Chicken Burger box, but when she arrived home and took a bite, Kent realised the burger contained chicken and cheese.
“I felt sick,” Kent told Nottinghamshire Live. “I was heartbroken. It has been a long time since I first became a vegan. I went to brush my teeth after.”
A KFC spokesperson apologised on behalf of the chain and said it had refunded Kent immediately.
