From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The limited-edition pizza includes rotisserie chicken, crispy bacon, and sage and onion stuffing, on a red wine gravy base.
According to a company statement, the pizza encapsulates “all the best elements of the traditional dinner without having to suffer a sprout”.
Amelia Riba, chief sales and brand officer, Pizza Hut UK & Europe said: “We’re thrilled to be offering this Christmas special to our customers and lucky for some, there’s no turkey in sight this year!
“Instead we have opted for delicious rotisserie chicken and bacon, with the stuffing and red wine gravy base adding the extra festive taste for ultimate satisfaction. We cannot wait for you to try it”, she said.
The pizza chain has also announced that it has added two Beyond Meat items to its menu “for a limited time”, in an effort to appeal to vegetarian and meat-eaters alike.
Available now from five select branches in London, Liverpool and Luton, the range includes Beyond Three-Meat Supreme, Beyond Italian Style Sausage Supreme, Beyond Beef Sizzler, Beyond Pork & Sweet Chilli and Beyond Italian Style Sausage Tear & Share Topper.
Regina Borda, managing director at Pizza Hut Europe said, “We are delighted to be the first pizza chain to bring Beyond Meat toppings to the UK.
“We are constantly challenging ourselves to bring new innovations to our customers, and the Beyond Meat Pizzas are a great option for those looking to try plant-based protein without sacrificing the iconic flavour and texture of our traditional pizzas,” she said.
It’s not the first time Pizza Hut has experimented with the classic Italian dish.
In June, Pizza Hut Taiwan announced it was launching the world’s first ramen pizza, incorporating elements of the popular noodle dish and pizza.
This included a topping of thick ramen noodles, pork slices, bamboo shoots, cheese, white sesame, fresh chilli and a half-boiled egg.
