Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Do you ever find yourself having to choose between a tempting glass of wine with a meal or a cheeky dessert afterwards? Well, now you can have the best of both worlds.

Mercer’s Dairy which first opened in New York over 60 years ago is sending tongues wagging with their award-winning wine ice cream.

The company, which was bought by Roxiana Hurlburt, one of the original family owners of Quality Dairy Farms, Inc. last year, came up with the idea back in 2006 and have since created the following eight delicious flavours:

Cherry Merlot, Spice, Peach White Zinfandel, Port, Red Raspberry Chardonnay, Riesling, Chocolate Cabernet and Strawberry Sparkling.

With a five per cent alcohol content, this ice cream is the perfect way to keep your New Year's celebrations going right into 2015.

Sadly, Mercer’s can only distribute across the US but trying it is definitely something worth putting on your to-do list for when you’re next across the Pond.
