Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. When all-natural Soho bakery Cutter & Squidge transformed their basement into a garden paradise in June, fans around the globe have descended to London to sample their ‘oh so cute’ Hello Kitty afternoon tea.
The scrumptious treat includes: pink lemonade, a choice of loose leaf tea including Hello Kitty Apple Pie tea, sandwiches, savoury cheese scones served with red pepper relish and cream cheese, coronation crackers, a strawberry milkshake biskie (a biscuit/cake/cookie hybrid), apple pie mousse, a vanilla cookie, ice cream, pink lemonade marshmallow, cake truffle and dipped strawberries.
Firm favourites are Mama’s Homemade Apple Pie Biskie, inspired by the iconic Sanrio character’s all-time favourite treat, and Kitty’s Mud Pie Chocolate Dream Cake.
Cutter & Squidge owner, Annabel Lui said: “Afternoon tea is a meal that you enjoy with friends and it can involve anything from sandwiches to little warm bites and predominantly sweet treats as well.
“This is a special collaboration. We created an afternoon tea inspired by Hello Kitty - that’s everything including the flavours from the drinks to the flavours in the food…”
Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea is at Cutter & Squidge until September 14, 11am – 5pm.
