From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

From Thursday 1 August until Sunday 18 August, the South African restaurant chain is due to host a pop-up in the heart of Shoreditch, London.
Dubbed Nando's Yard, the pop-up will offer foodies a range of mouth-watering food, including new exclusive meals such as the "Don Drip Wrap" – a beanie wrap created in collaboration with British rapper Stefflon Don.
The yard will also give customers the opportunity to sample Nando's breakfast dishes, marking the first time the meals have been made available outside of Gatwick Airport and Cobham Services.
The Nando's Breakfast features the flame-grilled Peri-Peri chicken sausage, spicy beans, crispy corn browns and spiced maple pancakes.
In addition to flavoursome food, those who venture to the pop-up will also have the chance to enjoy entertainment in the form of music and gaming, chill out with their friends in hangout spaces and enjoy film screenings.
Nando's Yard will also offer guests a range of health and wellbeing-themed events, including dance and fitness classes, meditation sessions and breathing workshops.
Before being made available at Nando's Yard, Stefflon Don's "Don Drip Wrap" will launch exclusively at Wireless Festival, which is due to take place from Friday 5 July until Sunday 7 July in Finsbury Park.
The beanie wrap is made with spinach, chargrilled peppers, a grilled pineapple slice, pineapple and coconut chutney and the new Nando's Mango and Lime Perinaise sauce.
Tickets for Nando's Yard will be made available to purchase from Monday 15 July.
A range of free and ticketed events will be hosted at the yard throughout its three-week stint, including yet-to-be-announced gigs and workshops.
