Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Lindes de Remelluri, Labastida, Rioja 2010
The first of three exciting Spanish reds is a very modern Rioja, full of really clean, pure black fruit flavours, beautifully rounded and fresh and designed to showcase the vines from the village of Labastida. Will get even better with age, but happily drinkable now with all red meats, particularly roast pork or lamb. £15.75, dbmwines.co.uk

Momo Vendima Seleccionada Ribera Del Duero 2010
The second wine of Bodegas Bohorquez, a small, bespoke producer in Spain's second biggest wine region, which specialises in coaxing great wine from Tempranillo grapes planted on tiny plots of barren soil. Medium bodied, lightly oaked, wonderfully succulent. A gorgeous accompaniment for a midweek steak or baked pasta. £9.95, thewinesociety.com

Heredad del Rey Reservada Yecla 2012
The reds of Yecla in the south-east of Spain are often dark, rich and heavy, but this blend of Monastrell and Syrah takes a slightly lighter tone: smooth but intense, with black cherry and mocha flavours and a whiff of cinammon. Stock up for summer. £5.99 (18 June to 15 July, normally £8.99), Waitrose
