Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Bodegas Castro Martin Albariño 2012
Great credit to M&S to be stocking Albariño from this family-owned ancient estate in the Rias Baixas in north-western Spain. Zesty, medium-bodied and full of flavours of pears and quince, it is almost perfectly designed for the bountiful local fish and, particularly, shellfish, while it is also fine for sushi. £11.99, Marks & Spencer

Domaine Astruc Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2012
Part of an excellent range of single varietals from a Paul Mas-owned Languedoc estate, bucking the local tradition of blended wines. Concentrated, pure Cabernet Sauvignon, New World-influenced, but a whiff of southern French hillsides. Good with red meats and tomato-based pasta. £8.80, addisonwines.com

Argento Malbec 2013
Just time today to catch up on some decent one-third discount offers at Majestic, of which the reliable Malbec is one of the best deals. Typical Malbec freshness, coupled with some lovely ripe brambly flavours, with a hint of spice in the mix. £6.66 (each for two bottles as part of a purchase of six mixed bottles, until tomorrow; normally £9.99), majestic.co.uk
