An opulent overhaul and trendy cocktails, such as a watermelon martini, have brought Fifty Seven Fifty Seven at The Four Seasons, 57 East 57th Street, New York (001 212 758 5700, fourseasons.com) bang up to date.
Enjoy a moody moment with a glass of whiskey à la Bill Murray at The Peak Lounge, Park Hyatt, 3-7-1-2 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-Ku, Tokyo (00 81 3 5322 1234, tokyo.park .hyatt.com) as featured in the film Lost In Translation.
The Bar at the jewellery and perfume-house owned Bulgari Hotel, Via Privata Fratelli Gabba 7/b, Milan (00 39 02 805 8051, bulgarihotels.com) is as fabulous as you would hope. Sip Tuscan wine and luxuriate in all that black marble.
