Bites: The mother of all Sunday lunches
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Maremma, 11-13 Theberton Street, London N1 (020-7226 9400) Mon-Fri dinner, Sat, Sun lunch and dinner. It's a truism that Italian restaurants usually welcome children; few do so as effectively as this smart Islington arrival. On Saturdays and Sundays children are corralled into the back and occupied with arts and crafts. Parents can get on with enjoying fine Tuscan food for around £20 a head. But if the children want to join them, the owners understand that children can't wait to eat - pizza arrives immediately to keep them quiet.
Redmond's, 170 Upper Richmond Road West, London SW14 (020-8878 1922) Mon-Fri lunch and dinner, Sat dinner, Sun lunch. One of the stars of south-west London, Redmond and Pippa Hayward's sunny yellow restaurant shines out in Sheen. Sunday lunch at £15.50 for two courses, £18.50 for three, provides a choice of superb dishes such as roast brill on the bone, or roast rump of lamb with aubergine and gratin dauphinoise. A children's menu for £7.50 is guaranteed nugget-free: they're fed breast of chicken or penne with tomato sauce instead.
Moonfleet Manor Hotel, Fleet Road, Weymouth, Dorset (01305 786948) Daily lunch and dinner. Families make a beeline to this splendid seaview hotel for a better class of R&R: recreation for children and relatively luxurious rest for adults. On Sundays there's a curry buffet for £9.95 in one appropriately colonial-looking restaurant. The other, more Mediterranean-flavoured, dining room overlooking Lyme Bay is also open for Sunday lunch at £15 for three courses. Children can be sent off to the supervised den, where they're fed the kind of food they like for around a fiver.
