Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Where can you enjoy the ultimate gastro bites with a refreshing glass of Leffe? The winners of the Leffe Gastro Bite Awards are about to be announced…

Who serves the most delicious, mouth-watering, flavoursome, taste-bud tempting and divine gourmet bar snacks in Britain?

Acclaimed chef Kevin Love is about to taste his way round the best of the best in search of the overall winner of the Leffe Gastro Bite Awards.

His search to find the top 5 establishments for gourmet bar snacks will be made more difficult by the fierce competition among pubs, bistros, wine bars and restaurants.

However, it has been made easier with a cool, elegant and refreshing glass of Leffe, the premium Belgian beer that is the perfect accompaniment to bring out the full flavour in food.

And to prove just how well the two go together Love has devised five delicious bar bites of his own, which have been exclusively showcased in his Michelin-star pub, The Hinds Head. They include a modern twist on that much-loved classic, Scotch Eggs.

But his work for the awards will be to taste the delicious bites devised by other pub chefs across the country – snacks that perfectly compliment Leffe Blonde, with its smooth hints of bitter fruitful flavours, or Leffe Brune, with its sweet after taste.

The hints of quince, gooseberry, bitter cherry and apple, with traces of cloves, nutmeg and allspice, in this refreshing and authentic Abbey beer bring out the full flavours of a taste-bud tempting bar snack. So who will win?

Love’s final selection of the five gastro snack winners will be revealed at the Leffe Gastro Bite Awards where their delicious dishes will be showcased on the 25th June
