Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

In 2017 we can have almost anything, anytime, at the click of a button.

Laundry at 6am? Done. Ben & Jerry's cookie dough in the middle of the afternoon? Why not. Make-up in preparation for the one night stand that lies ahead? You saucy minx.

But that’s not all.

Now, you can have almost anything, anytime at the gentle utterance of a vowel sound.

Domino’s have joined forces with Amazon’s cloud-based voice service and all-round know it all, Alexa, enabling users to order their favourite slice via their nifty digital PA.

The new partnership will allow pizza-lovers to track the exact location of their pizza via GPS as it makes its way from oven to mouth, faster than you can say margherita.

This is your three-step guide to becoming the laziest and most gluttonous version of yourself:

1. Set up an account on the Domino's website (that is, if you haven’t already got one, you pizza fiend)

2. Enable the Domino’s skill via the Alexa app

3. Link Domino’s with your Alexa account

For inspiration on ways in which you can order your pizza as politely as possible, see below.

  • “Alexa, ask Domino’s to feed me”
  • “Alexa, ask Domino’s where my pizza is”
  • “Alexa, ask Domino’s to track my order”

All roads lead to pizza.

Emoji got your tongue? Fear not, for Domino’s is the first pizza company in the UK to also offer emoji ordering through Facebook Messenger.

No longer will "I can't be bothered to order a pizza" be a common feature of British rhetoric, phew.

It’s only a matter of time until you simply have to close your eyes, click your heels and whisper “thin crust” three times for that pepperoni to magically appear on your plate.
