Set to open at Hotel Café Royal on September 20, the unique watering hole will be a permanent fixture and will feature an array of tipples inspired by the late artist’s iconic 1972 album: ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’.
Drinks will be named after some of Bowie’s most famous lyrics from songs on the album, including “Darkness and Disgrace” and “Animal Grace”.
The musical legend's passing in 2016 sparked a wave of national mourning, with many hosting Bowie-themed parties to honour the beloved star.
There is also a memorial for the singer in Brixton, where he was born, which went up in 2013 and became a popular spot for fans wanting to pay their respects after his death.
Bowie famously held his “retirement party” for his alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust, at Hotel Café Royal on July 3 1973 - hence why the hotel has decided to pay the singer such a momentous tribute.
The party was attended by a number of popular musicians, including Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Barbra Streisand and Lou Reed.
Fabio Spinetti, the hotel’s bars and beverages manager, said: “Café Royal has always been the place where great minds would come to discuss great ideas.
“David Bowie played a really important part in Café Royal’s history, with the famous 'Last Supper' taking place here. It only seems fitting to provide a homage to one of our most esteemed patrons.
"Each drink includes carefully considered liqueurs and garnishes, all a tribute to Bowie’s life and his eccentric character and the change that he brought to the 1970s not just to music but to life itself.”
Drinks on the menu include the 'Femme Fatale', a twist on the conventional martini, which Bowie is believed to have loved, combining Japanese liqueur sake with sweet vermouth.
There is also the 'Tiger on Vaseline', which takes its name from the popular track 'Hang on to Yourself'. The drink itself plays on the classic Pińa Colada, featuring homemade coconut and white chocolate foam.
The bar will also honour Bowie by displaying a selection of famous photographs taken by Mick Rock, one of the singer’s official photographers, in addition to a series of intimate and rarely-seen snaps.
It will no doubt be a huge hit among Bowie and cocktail aficionados alike.
