Campo Viejo: a wine that brings family and friends together

Born from a desire to create a drink for sharing, Campo Viejo blends traditional methods with vibrant flavours

Thursday 06 September 2018 06:51 EDT

From humble origins in 1964 in Rioja, three Spanish entrepreneurs wanted to create a wine that would bring families and friends together around a table to share food, drinks and conversation.

In an era when the people of Spain only drank wine from their local region, the founders of Campo Viejo had the vision to share their creation with the inhabitants of towns and villages throughout Spain – and ultimately the world.

Their dream was to bring people together with the wine they created, envisioning a bottle of Campo Viejo on every Spanish table.

Living generously

While modern life is increasingly busy, Campo Viejo stays true to its origins and still takes time to share experiences. This is reflected in its wine-making, which blends traditional heritage with bold innovations that appeal to modern palates.

To make the most of Rioja’s signature grape, Campo Viejo grows and harvests Tempranillo under three subtly different climates. When expertly combined, these grapes (Mazuelo, Graciano and Tempranillo) collaborate to create the authentic taste of Rioja. Campo Viejo has committed to the strictest of quality standards in order to preserve these lands for future generations to enjoy. From the vine to the bottle, it adheres to sustainable wine-making practices and the winery has been carbon neutral since 2012.
