The Ginchester Fete, Winchester, Saturday 10 June
Nothing is more quintessentially British than a country fete but add in a little gin and it really is a British summertime affair. And this time it conveniently falls on World Gin Day. Taking place in Winchester’s Great Hall, there will be gin samples of rare and unusual gin, local distillers and food made with gin too. Along with traditional fete games to play too. Entry is £10 a session, between 12pm-2.30pm and 3pm-5.30pm.
Taste London, Regents Park, 14-18 June
Marking the ultimate celebration of food in the capital Taste of London returns to Regent’s Park for five days of eating and drinking. New for this year is the taste residence – a chance for an intimate fine-dining experience with two-Michelin-star Brazilian chef Alex Atala, Slovenian Ana Ros and London’s own Ollie Dabbous. Tom Kerridge and Robin Gill are two of the chefs who will be doing demonstrations, while there will be plenty on offer to taste from some of the best and newest restaurants including the Nordic-French Aster and Duck & Waffle Local. Feast 2017, Waddesdon Manor, 17-18 June
Inspired by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild’s Victorian garden parties at the incredible Waddesdon Manor, Feast offers a taste of history over the two days with more than 60 artisan local food and drink stalls from pies to cheeses and biscuits. There will be tables set up to enjoy food or a picnic and performances. There’s a wine-tasting from the Rothschild range too. Adults £15, children £7.50 waddesdon.org.uk/whats-on/feast-2017
Stafford Cheese and Ale Festival 16-18 June
Taking place in the market square, as well as the namesake cheese and ale, the festival will also be showcasing local producers’ bread, oils, chutneys, cider and wine. There will also be cookery demonstrations and an alfresco bar. stafford-towncentre.co.uk/cheeseandale
English Garden Party, Cambridge, 18 June
Head six floors up at the Varsity Hotel in Cambridge for a sunset soiree, with afternoon tea and a champagne picnic hamper. Enjoy summer tipples while taking in live music from local artists, with the view of the city below. There’s also a bar which will be serving up classic British drinks such as strawberry bellinis and jugs of Pimms. Picnic hampers are £59 for two people and the event begins at 5pm. Bite Me Burger Company, London pop-up 20 June
If you’ve ever had the hard decision of not being able to decide which burger to have, the Bite Me Burger Co. has made it much easier with its mini burgers. With nine flavours to choose from, order two, three, four or a dozen sharing boxes. Flavours include the classic American, a duck burger with truffle mayo and smoked hoisin and lamb with jalapeno and stilton, while any meat can be replaced with aubergine for veggies. Shrewsbury Food Festival, 24 June
With a whopping 200 stalls showcasing the best of local produce, from Bennetts Farm ice cream, Bexton cheese to Chilton liqueurs and Haughtin honey, Shrewsbury's festival also has are chef demos – including one with Nick Knowles who’s also co-owner of Shrewsbury’s vegan and veggie restaurant, O Joy Wellness.
