Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

AS THE refugee crisis deepens daily, The Independent on Sunday and Independent Kosovo appeal has been swamped with callers. Since the appeal was launched last week, total donations have reached pounds 350,000, part of the pounds 7m total raised by the Disasters Emergency Committee so far.

This is a joint appeal, organised on behalf of many aid agencies including the British Red Cross, Christian Aid, Cafod, CARE International UK, Children's Aid Direct, Oxfam and others, to prevent a bombardment of separate appeals, and ensure a planned, joint effort that will get aid to those who need it most as quickly as possible.

Donations can be made by calling 0870 6060900 or 0990 222233. Cheques made payable to Kosovo Crisis Appeal can be sent to the Disasters Emergency Committee Kosovo Appeal, PO Box 999, London EC4A 9AA. Cash should ONLY be given at banks, building societies and post offices. Updates can be obtained via ITV Teletext page 520, or the DEC Internet site (www.dec.org.uk).
