At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Exceeding all other top sales, the sportswear brand announced it has sold more of the women’s shirt online than any other in a single season.
“The USA Women’s home jersey is now the No. 1 soccer jersey, men’s or women’s, ever sold on Nike.com in one season,” said Mark Parker, Nike CEO, during the company’s earnings call.
The Nike US 2019 Stadium Home Women's Football Shirt is a white, slim-fit top that features red and blue stripes on the short sleeves and three stars on the back to represent how many times the US has won the world title.
It is also made from 100 per cent recycled polyester fabric and uses Nike’s Dri-FIT technology for a comfortable and cool feel.
The shirt is available to buy in sizes XS-XL for £69.95 here.
The sales figures prove that Nike’s investment in female sports is paying off and emphasises the rise in the popularity of women’s football globally.
Parker added that the sportswear brand is growing in the women’s apparel market and revealed that Nike has become the biggest seller of sports bras in North America for the first time in its history.
“The exposure is driving outstanding sell-through in kits, high-performance bras and lifestyle extensions,” Parker said.
“It’s hard to overstate how important this year has been to the evolution of the women’s offense at Nike.”
The brand has no plans in slowing down its commitment to prioritising women’s sport and has been showing its support on the Nike Women Instagram account by posting pictures of the US team’s players in their jerseys, including Megan Rapinoe, Julie Ertz and Carli Lloyd.
On Tuesday, the US defeated England 2-1 in the semi-finals of the major international tournament.
The US will now advance to the Women's World Cup final on Sunday where it will play against the winner of the Netherlands and Sweden match on Wednesday.
England will face the losing team on Saturday to determine who takes third place.
