From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Some fashion editors recently stated that they have had enough of the characteristic Balmain look - consisting of bold-shouldered, often military-inspired jackets, very skinny jeans or leggings, and clunky heels - that dominated trend-conscious dressing for the past seasons. This week on Polyvore, Balmain fell five places to a long-time low at #10, suggesting that this sentiment might enter the mainstream.

Instead, other premier-league, French fashion houses including YSL and Dior are again rising in the community's favor. However, the Brits are taking the highest spots this week with Mulberry, McQueen, and Liberty of London ranking top three.

Mulberry and equally British Matthew Williamson are also the only ready-to-wear brands featuring in this week's ranking of top internet sites, while jewelry labels such as Tarina Tarantino and classic online destinations such as lagarconne.com remain popular. Danish site youheshe.com is adding to the popularity of Scandinavian sites' designer selections.

In trends, denim vests and bustier tops are keeping the 1980s-inspired look alive, matching perfectly with the newly entered turquoise jewelry (Pantone's trend color of the year).
