From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Italian fashion house has tapped the Spider-Man star to star in its upcoming fall/winter campaign.

The choice has come as a surprise for many, not only because Maguire has never starred in a fashion campaign before, but also because the actor has been flying under the radar since 2009's Brothers.

But next year will mark his comeback in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby, and it seems the star is pulling all publicity strings he can.

"A great supporter of the Arts, Miuccia Prada has inspired a culture of creativity that is woven through every aspect of her company, from her collections, her campaigns, to every design detail in her stores," he said in a statement. "I have such admiration for her artistry and I'm thrilled to be a part of Prada's fall campaign."

Maguire is not the only Spider-Man star that is gaining fashion cred: co-star Kirsten Dunst has recently fronted ads for Bulgari and Band of Outsiders.
