Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A new video teases the global shopping event Fashion's Night Out, initiated by Vogue's Anna Wintour in 2009, which will take place on September 8 this year.

In the US alone, more than 100 cities will be participating, while Australia, China, the UK, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan, and Turkey will all organize their own editions.

For the first time, online retailers will also stage special shopping events to involve those who aren't close to any of the participating locations.

"We've come a long way in three years," Wintour - who launched the initiative in order to boost spending through after-hours shopping, parties, and special deals - said in a statement, "and thankfully, the fashion industry is much healthier than when we started in 2009, but it could always be better...we are eager to see the kinds of events retailers will create to turn all that wonderful enthusiasm into even greater sales this year."

With the event, the Fashion's Night Out collection is also growing bigger, this year including long- and short-sleeved T-shirts, baseball caps, and tote bags.
