From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

But now, the singer and designer has revealed that she will be creating her very own skincare line.
Making the announcement in a recent Facebook Live video from her store in Dover Street, London, Beckham said that a collection of skincare felt like a natural progression following the incredible success of her 14-piece collaboration with Estée Lauder back in 2016.
The tightly edited makeup collection – which comprised everything from smoky eyeshadows to nude lip glosses – sold out immediately and was inspired by the products she wanted to see more of in her own makeup bag. And, this new skincare line is based off the same principle.
Beckham said that she wanted to create the skincare products that she felt were missing from her own regime.
“I'm developing my own skincare and fragrance now,” she said. “I make what I want in my life. It's a filling a gap. As a women, I want to make the things that I need in my life, the things that are missing.”
The 43-year-old also said that she is working with the very best of ingredients, latest technologies and trying to learn as much as she can on the way.
“I'm having fun with the skincare, it's going to be very scientific. I'm working with the best,” she said.
“I really want to learn. I want to educate myself and learn as much as I can.”
Beckham also hinted that a perfume could be on the cards and while this isn’t her first foray into fragrance – she launched Intimately Beckham back in 2006 with husband David – this newest launch looks set to be her most refined and super-luxe yet.
