Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The 75th Venice Film Festival kicked off last week with a spectacular opening ceremony.
Stars including Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, Lady Gaga and juror Naomi Watts made appearances on the red carpet at the opening, which took place at the historic Sala Grande.
While the main focus of the festival is the films and awards, including the prestigious Golden Lion award for best film, the fashionable ensembles that the attendees wear during the festivities can be just as dazzling.
The 11-day event attracts an ever-growing list of prominent individuals from the film industry, with the likes of Nicholas Hoult, Bradley Cooper and Clémence Poésy already hitting the red carpet.
So far, La Biennale di Venezia has offered two standout sartorial trends. The first of which has seen an array of female guests, including Lottie Moss and Claire Foy, don varying shades of pink from sugared almond and powdered rose to brilliant shades of fuschia.
Elsewhere, the power suit made a return with Naomi Watts and Charlotte Le Bon opting for statement-making two-pieces.
Running until 8 September, there are plenty more unmissable fashion moments to come, so watch this space as we will be constantly updating the looks.
