Man buns are officially over, but the newest hairstyle trend for men is equally questionable.

According to Esquire, the look of the moment is Troll Doll-inspired hair - after designer Thom Browne introduced the style during his Paris runway show on Saturday.

The models in the show featured coiffed hairstyles that extended inches into the air - and leaned to one side or the other.

Created with the use of copious amounts of hairspray, the models’ hair resembled the Troll Dolls popular in the 60s and 90s - without the bright colours.

However, the newest iteration, referred to as the "fashion troll", is more high-fashion - and can be worn with a variety of outfits, including a suit.

The New York-based designer paired the stiff hair with suit-turned-skirt ensembles in various plaids and pinstripes - and the completed look is certainly unforgettable.

“In a world of homogenous short-backs-and-sides, the fashion troll is the lid to give male grooming the shake up it needs in 2019,” the magazine said.

On Instagram, however, people weren’t convinced.

In response to the hairstyle, one person commented: “Yikes” while another simply said: “No.”

If the Troll Doll look isn’t for you, GQ suggests other popular hairstyles for men to choose from in 2019 - including curly, longer looks, or the “new wave fade,” which is attainable by cutting hair on top a bit shorter and then dying it “an unnatural colour" and letting it "get all dirty and textured.”
