From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Available in just one shade, simply named Supreme, it is described as an “instantly iconic bright red” designed exclusively by McGrath.
The lipstick will feature the makeup artist’s hydrating, hyper-pigmented MatteTrance formula, and is packaged in her signature, gold-lipped seal with the Supreme logo.
The new release was announced via McGrath’s Twitter and Instagram, where she shared a series of nine campaign videos to fill her grid.
The captions read "Introducing Supreme®/ Pat McGrath Labs Lipstick" and included quotes from Bram Stoker’s Dracula and by Simone de Beauvoir and F. Scott Fitzgerald about colours and kissing.
Fans of both brands were quick to respond with hyped reactions to the collaboration.
“Supreme always collabs with the best brands for accessories to make sure they have the best quality item," [Sic] one person wrote.
"So choosing Pat McGrath for the lipstick collab was a big brain decision this is something I will definitely be buying", they added.
McGrath has a highly dedicated following who refer to the self-taught makeup artist as Mother.
Her eponymous makeup line was valued at $1bn (£790m) and she has worked with fashion designers including Givenchy, Valentino and Alexander McQueen.
Specific details are scarce about the release — in typical style for Supreme who are known for their elusive marketing — though its website reveals it will be available as part of its fall/winter 2020 collection, which has its first drop this week.
The lipstick will be sold exclusively on supremenewyork.com. It is likely to be an almost instant sell-out if past Supreme collaborations are anything to go by.
Last year, the brand teamed up with Stone Island and Jean Paul Gaultier in quick succession, with both lines selling out in record time.
Beauty and fashion lovers alike will need to keep a close eye on social media updated to have a chance of getting their hands on one of the limited edition lipstick tubes.
