From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The “All Together Now” range features clothing for women, men and children, all of which feature playful graphics, motifs and slogans inspired by classic Beatles songs.
For women, standout pieces include the multi-coloured oversized “All you need is love” jumper and the faux fur coat that features vivid swirls of scarlet, violet, green and mustard.
On the more neutral side of the sartorial spectrum, there’s also the oversized checked blazer and the blue sweatshirt with a cartoon of a yellow submarine embroidered onto it.
Menswear in the collection includes vibrant shirts decorated with pop-art portraits of members of the Beatles and intricately decorated patchwork coats.
Footwear is also included in the collection, with a striking pair of chunky yellow velcro trainers designed for women.
Like all of McCartney’s clothing, the range has been made using sustainable materials, including organic cotton jersey and denim, regenerated cashmere and sustainable viscose.
The collection debuted at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday 30 June, when pop singer Billie Eilish wore a custom two-piece featuring the designer’s name printed down the side.
The T-shirt and shorts co-ord featured several gaudy cartoons, including one of a blue monster character bearing yellow teeth.
Speaking about the collection, McCartney said: “I recently went to a screening with family and friends for the digital relaunch of ‘Yellow Submarine’. I hadn’t seen it since I was young, and honestly it blew my mind.
“It affected me in a way I just wasn’t expecting. Especially this idea of connecting people and bringing people together – politically this message has never been more relevant. So, I came out and I was like ‘I have to do something.’”
McCartney said that re-imaging the film’s aesthetic into clothing that was in keeping with her brand was a surprisingly seamless process.
“The colours and the psychedelia and the patterns and the prints! It translated effortlessly into the ready-to-wear,” she explained. “It’s an emotional and authentic collection and it really crosses over.”
“All Together Now” is part of Stella McCartney’s Autumn 2019 collections and will be available in Stella McCartney stores and online, and on Farfetch.com from 8 July, followed by further selected wholesaler partners worldwide from 15th July.
