From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Multi-platinum singer and fashion designer Rihanna is expanding her Fenty repertoire with the upcoming launch of Fenty Skin.
Rihanna made the announcement on social media, sharing a video on her personal Instagram account, in addition to the newly-launched Fenty Skin profile.
In the video, the 32-year-old is filmed applying a variety of skincare products in front of a bathroom mirror.
The camera zooms in on Rihanna’s hands to show the quantity of product she is applying to her face, ending on a clip of the singer rubbing an ointment into her skin.
In the caption for the post shared on Rihanna’s personal Instagram account, she wrote: “Ima try my best to be humble about this but, @fentyskin is coming July 31st exclusively on fentyskin.com.”
While the skincare line is being launched on Friday 31 July, customers can sign up for early access by entering their email address or phone number at fentyskin.com.
Once you register for early access, a message appears that reads: “That’s it – you’re officially fam.”
Fenty Skin shares its name with Rihanna’s other brands, including her fashion brand Fenty, her lingerie line Savage X Fenty and her make-up label Fenty Beauty, taking their titles after the singer's surname.
Fenty Beauty was widely lauded upon its launch in September 2017 for its inclusivity of skin tones, with the foundation originally being launched in 40 different shades.
Several of her fans expressed their excitement over the soon-to-be-released skincare collection.
“Fenty Skin is going to be Rihanna’s most successful line, other brands will have a tough time replicating the company’s formula,” one person tweeted.
“Can’t wait to wear my Fenty Savage in my Fenty make-up on my Fenty skin in my Fenty sunglasses on my Fenty furniture in my Fenty house on this Fenty Earth,” another wrote.
Following the announcement of Fenty Skin, Rihanna responded to several enquiries about the brand on Twitter.
One of the tweets the entrepreneur responded to was shared on 26 September 2017 and read: “If Rihanna come out with Fenty skincare line for men I’m changing my middle name to Robyn.”
Rihanna responded by stating: “Whoever told you skincare has a gender, LIED to you! Hi Robyn.”
