From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The reputed Jasmine Awards, bestowed in London on February 9, honored the best in fragrance writing. Read on and get inspired by the most successful authors in the field.

Tania Sanchez, who shared her summer fragrance memories and favorite scents for the season in " Essence of Summer" in the July issue of Psychologies magazine, was awarded with the Jasmine Literary Award for a magazine. Michael Bywater won in the same category for news press with " Scents and Sensibility," published in The Independent in August.

Photographer Patrice d'Hotman de Villiers bagged the Jasmine Visual Award for his illustration of Tony Marcus's " Fleurs du Mal" story in September's Harrods magazine.

If you're looking for a more pragmatic approach toward perfume, be sure to check out Catherine Turner and Evie Leatham's " On the Scent Trail," from November's Easy Living magazine, which won Best Practical Guide to Fragrance, as well as the Best Website Feature on Fragrance: the " What's Your Perfume Personality?" quiz on allaboutyou.com, created by Yanar Alkayat.

Alkayat shared her win with Avril Groom who was also honored in the web category for " The Packaging is Plain, the Perfume Anything But" on Maison Martin Margiela's first perfume, Untitled, on howtospendit.com.

The Jasmine jurors included industry expert Catherine Mitchell of IFF (the International Fragrance Foundation), Elizabeth Fagan, Marketing Director of UK drugstore chain Boots, prize-winning author Sara Wheeler, Willie Walters, head of the MA Fashion Course at St Martin's College, womenswear designer Graeme Black and the milliner Cozmo Jenks.
