When Chopra married Nick Jonas in early December 2018, the pair paid tribute to the heritages of their families by having both Christian and Hindu ceremonies to mark the occasion.
For the Christian ceremony, which took place at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India on 1 December, Chopra wore an elegant, bespoke Ralph Lauren, embellished with 32,000 sequins and more than 11,000 Swarovski crystals.
More than a month after the nuptials took place, the American fashion designer has released a video showing the awe Chopra felt when she finally laid her eyes on the finished design during a fitting in Paris.
When designing the custom dress, Lauren wanted to ensure that it mirrored Chopra's identity, in addition to her relationship with Jonas and connection to India.
"This isn't about a dress," he said, in a statement released on Twitter. "It's about a woman and a moment.
"@PriyankaChopra knows exactly who she is, and so I wanted the dress to reflect, not only her love story and the romance of India, but also her unique sensibility: strong, smart, and beautiful."
It took Ralph Lauren several months to finalise the design of the gown.
The design drew inspiration from the designer's penchant for sophisticated silhouettes, combining a sequinned strapless dress with an exquisite, sheer coat.
The coat took 1,826 hours to embroider, an arduous task that was undertaken by 15 artisans from Mumbai.
Ralph Lauren added a subtle nod to the significance of the occasion by having the date of the wedding delicately sewn into the lace.
In addition to the coat, which was adorned with 135 silk buttons, Chopra finished off the wedding look with a 75-foot veil, which had to be carried by six attendants on the day.
Chopra and Jonas' families were also dressed in custom Ralph Lauren for the ceremony.
The bridesmaids, which included Game of Thrones star and the couple's future sister-in-law Sophie Turner, wore lightweight charmeuse gowns, while the mother of the bride was dressed in a blue silk cady ensemble.
Chopra told People magazine that she chose Ralph Lauren as her wedding dress designer after discovering that he'd only designed three wedding dresses in 50 years - "one for his daughter, his daughter-in-law, and his niece."
