Following on the heels of France's Grand Prix du Parfum, the UK's Fragrance Foundation has named the best scents of the past year -and the decade - at the London Fifi Awards, April 12.

Apart from Diesel's Only the Brave, whose campaign and packaging was deemed successful on both sides of the Channel, the results could not be any more different: while French houses Cartier, Hermès and Nina Ricci bagged the big prizes in Paris, London was more fond of the Americans, naming Marc Jacobs' Lola and Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver as best new fragrances.

It is also Ford who won the prize for best new limited distribution fragrance in the men's category with Italian Cypress.

Even though Londoners preferred the Americans for new fragrances, the French houses were honored for their Fragrances of the Decade with Chanel winning for Coco Mademoiselle in women's and Paco Rabanne taking home the award for his men's fragrance, 1 Million.
